3 Tips To Keep In Mind When Shipping Important Packages

When you have an important package you want to ship, you want to make sure that it arrives to its destination on time. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when shipping important packages to ensure that everything gets to its destination on-time.

#1 Make Sure Your Package Is Properly Packaged

The first thing you need to do is make sure that your package is properly packaged. You need to make sure that whatever you are shipping will not move around inside of the package. You can fill in the empty space around your item with shipping peanuts, crumpled up newspaper or small air bags. The less wiggle room your item has inside of the package, the better chance it has of reaching its destination unharmed.

The second thing you need to do is make sure that your package is secure. Make sure that all the seams are properly sealed with strong, clear packing tape. You don't want your packaging busting upon on its journey.

Third, you need to make sure that your package is clearly labeled. Make sure that your address as well as the recipient's address is written clearly and is easy to read. If you struggle with writing clearly, type up the address, print it out, and stick or tape it onto your package.

#2 Build In A Few Extra Days

If you are shipping a package during a peak shipping time, such as Christmas, you need to build in a few extra days for shipping. You also need to add in a few extra days for shipping if bad weather is on the horizons. For example, a huge winter storm or an impending hurricane can mess-up shipping across the United States. If you are shipping your package and think one of the things described above could impact your package, make sure you build in a few extra days for your package to get to its destination on time.

#3 Sign Up For Email Notifications

Most shipping services allow you to either track your package or sign-up for email notifications. Both of these methods will allow you to see when your package was accepted by the shipping facility, where the package has been received, when the package reaches its final destination and when it was actually delivered.

This allows you to know where exactly your package is in the shipping process, and it also allows you to know exactly when the intended recipient received the package. It takes out the guess work out of the shipping process.

If you follow the three tips above, your package should make it to its destination unharmed and on time. Contact a business, such as Packaging Center Inc, for more information.
